Well, that escalated quickly and did not go according to plan.
Appears I attached the gearbox to the engine incorrectly, preventing the motor from turning over. This only became evident once I had installed the motor, gearbox and fancy fabricated shorty exhaust.
With only 24 hours to work with, I had to make the tough decision to abandon my plans and prep the #rescuemod, which not only hadn’t turned a wheel since the 2023 event, but also had all the race bits removed to be replaced with original parts. In other words, less than 24 hours to complete a half stripped car before leaving for the event.
Needless to say, entering a road car in a race event, is like taking a knife to a gun fight and expectations were lowered accordingly, with focus on maximising the learning experience, first time in semi slicks…
As usual, and expected, much fun was had and growth experiences despite the frantic preparations.
Turns out semi slicks won’t work at 3.5 bar, neither will the car run with the earth strap not securely tightened!
Thanks to @simola_hillclimb for putting on another spectacular event. Looking forward to 2025!!!
