The highs and lows of racing…
In the spirit of Classic Friday, road cars, at Simola Hillclimb, we decided to roadtrip to the event rather than saddle a horse & cart…
While it took us the better part of a day to complete just 250km, the bright side is the fuelling problems are now a thing of the past. Turns out I had the wrong facet pump fitted which kept cavitating resulting in regular smoke breaks. And we don’t smoke.
As luck would have it, we managed to source a loan pump from my dealer in Heidelberg, where we eventually overnighted and so the fun began.
Regardless of the fore mentioned delay, We managed to make Documentation & Scrutineering on time, for the first time in 7 entries…. Thanks to my self appointed time keeper, team manager and agent.
In aviation they say any landing is a good landing… similar for racing. Always a good weekends racing once everyone is home safely.
Managed to achieve best time yet, 1.04.8, with growing confidence. I realise now that I’m still learning the dynamics of the car and know that I am capable of better times and now I have a great baseline to work from.
Accomodation booked for next year, can’t wait for entries to open.
Target 1min in the correct class….
Thanks for all the support, one of the best Simola’s ever!
