Back in the Day

Back in the day, I lived on a farm in Grabouw, so I bought a BMW 1100GS, to commute. I did 18000km in 6 months…on the original tyre (how times have changed). My riding and confidence improved massively on that bike. And then I opened Ducati Cape Town, so had to sell it. I loved that bike.

When the first gen Multistrada was launched, I really hoped it was going to be an adequate replacement to BMW. Although great, turns out Multi meant Town & Country, not Road & Offroad. I suffered in silence until I became a KTM Dealer. I remember the first time I saw a KTM 950, it was an S. The extra extra extra tall one. One of 3 parallel imports. If Butch Hirach (rip) knew i was looking at it, I’m sure he would have closed my account. I thought wtf is this praying mantis, who is going to find that attractive? Let alone want to be seen on it. Was I wrong?

But I digress.

My first love, Ducati, now make a proper adventure bike. Coincidence, I think not. Full circle baby!!!
