Spa-Francorchamps
Eau Rouge in the flesh. It's steeper than it looks on TV. Much steeper.
Spa is the circuit drivers talk about the way the rest of us talk about holidays. In the Ardennes forest, long and fast, with Eau Rouge and Raidillon rising so steeply you have to see it to believe it. There are track days, races most weekends and a museum in the old abbey at Stavelot.
Standing at the bottom of Eau Rouge in 2018 I finally understood why they all lift. Or say they don't.
