Privacy

OneTrackMind is a trip planner for riders and drivers. This page says what we keep about you, why, and how to have it removed. It's written to meet South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

If you don't sign in

Your trips and settings stay in your browser on your device. We don't see them. To work out routes, weather and places, the app sends the points of your trip (not your name or email) to the services listed below.

We also count, per day, how often things are used on the site (a trip planned, a GPX downloaded, a map link opened). These are plain totals: nothing about who you are, where you are or what you planned is kept with them.

If you sign in

We keep your email address, the routes you save, and the date you last signed in. We use your email only to send sign-in links and, if you ask for one, a reply to your feedback. We don't sell or share your details.

If you tick Send me new routes and trip ideas, we also email you new routes and trip ideas, about once a month, and we keep the date you said yes. Untick it any time under My routes, or use the unsubscribe link in any of those emails. We send them through an email service that works only on our behalf.

Feedback

When you send feedback or suggest a change, we keep what you wrote, your email if you gave it, and, if you ticked the box, a copy of the trip on your screen so we can see what you saw.

Cookies and affiliate links

One cookie, only after you sign in, to keep you signed in. We also use impact.com to track affiliate links: when you follow a link to a partner (for example a place to stay or a travel booking site), impact.com and that partner may set cookies so that a booking can be credited to us. That’s how OneTrackMind stays free. We don’t use advertising cookies of our own, and we don’t sell your details.

Visitor counts

We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics: how many people visit, which pages, roughly from which country, and on what kind of device. It uses no cookies and doesn’t identify you.

Who processes data for us

Cloudflare (hosting, the database and visitor counts), impact.com (affiliate link tracking), Resend (sign-in emails), Stadia Maps (map tiles and backup routing), BRouter (routing), Open-Meteo (weather) and OpenStreetMap services (places). Some of these are outside South Africa.

Your rights

You can see, correct or delete what we hold. Delete your account any time under My routes → Delete account; it removes your email and every route you saved straight away. For anything else, email [email protected]. You can also complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa).
